I hope everyone had a long, restful weekend. It always seems once this weekend is over, the rest of the school year goes by in a flash.
I want to thank parents for all the amazing things that have been happening at school. The playground committee has been working to help ease the congestion and get more games out for children to play. The fundraising committee has begun working furiously to prepare for the silent auction, after pulling off a pop up sample sale that was so successful. The healthy school lunch and grant writing committees are working tirelessly to improve the school in so many ways. The library committee is working to help Jenny organize all the books that came up from the basement. Again, thanks to all the parents who mobilized at the drop of a hat to spend days/weeks cleaning out the basement; and of course the parents who come each week for Family Math, Parent Read Aloud, and to chaperone our many, many trips. My hope is to be able to personally thank everyone before the school year is out.
I know I haven't been as accessible at drop off in the mornings as I would like to be, but I have been finding myself at various meetings with different committees. I do want to remind parents that should anyone want to speak to me about any issue, there are two ways to contact me. First is to come to the office. If I am not there because I am in classrooms, my favorite part of the job, Toni, Tisa or Tory can always find me. The second is to email me, firstname.lastname@example.org . I try to return emails as quickly as I can and we can set a time to meet in person via email.
I know Tisa sent an email out to families with the information concerning the concert this Thursday but I just wanted to reiterate it here:
The MLK Concert will begin promptly at 6:30 PM in the PS 111 auditorium, 440 West 53rd Street at 53rd & 10th Avenue. There will be no pot luck dinner or pizza preceding the concert. Parents must bring their own children to the concert.
I'm sure it will be a wonderful event and I know that Ed, the principal of 111, is looking forward to hosting us and attending the concert as well.
Look forward to seeing everyone Thursday,
